Leo TripletTripletto del Leone

The Leo Triplet is a group of interacting galaxies located in the constellation Leo, at an average distance of about 35 million light-years from the solar system.

NGC 3628 (Hamburger Galaxy) is an edge-on spiral galaxy characterized by a thick central band of obscuring dust. Gravitational interactions within the group have deformed its structure, triggering star formation and expelling gas and dust on a galactic scale.

M66 (NGC 3627) is a barred spiral galaxy and the brightest member of the group. Its morphology features asymmetric spiral arms distorted by tidal forces, rich in young star clusters and emission nebulae.

M65 (NGC 3623) is a spiral galaxy with a well-defined central nucleus and regular arms. Although it is less disturbed than the other components, its structure retains the effects of the gravitational link with the rest of the system.

Il Tripletto del Leone è un gruppo di galassie interagenti situate nella costellazione del Leone, a una distanza media di circa 35 milioni di anni luce dal sistema solare.

NGC 3628 (Galassia Hamburger) è una galassia a spirale osservata di taglio, caratterizzata da una spessa banda centrale di polvere oscurante. Le interazioni gravitazionali nel gruppo ne hanno deformato la struttura, innescando processi di formazione stellare ed espellendo gas e polveri su scala galattica.

M66 (NGC 3627) è una galassia a spirale barrata ed è il membro più luminoso del gruppo. La sua morfologia presenta bracci a spirale asimmetrici e distorti dalle forze di marea, ricchi di giovani ammassi stellari e nebulose a emissione.

M65 (NGC 3623) è una galassia a spirale con un nucleo centrale ben definito e bracci regolari. Benché risulti meno perturbata rispetto alle altre componenti, la sua struttura conserva gli effetti del legame gravitazionale con il resto del sistema.
